Diaspora's are the different ethnic regions around Africa, each with it's only unique speciality of goods.

Kenya

At Kuleta, we celebrate and serve the Kenyan diaspora by offering a seamless way to access authentic products from home, from spices and teas to oils, fabrics, and traditional goods. Our mission is to make the essence of Kenya accessible to diaspora households, preserving traditions, and fostering economic empowerment for vendors back home, especially women micro-entrepreneurs. The Kenyan diaspora is a vibrant and influential global community, comprising approximately 3 million Kenyans residing abroad. Significant populations are concentrated in the US, with approximately 200,000–300,000 Kenyans living primarily in states like Texas, Washington D.C., New York, and California. In 2024, Kenyans abroad sent home a record $4.94 billion USD in remittances, marking an 18% increase from the previous year. These remittances have become Kenya’s largest source of foreign exchange, surpassing traditional exports like tea and tourism.

Nigeria

At Kuleta, we aim to bring authentic Nigerian products closer to Nigerians abroad. By connecting diaspora buyers with Nigerian women vendors and local producers, Kuleta ensures direct access to authentic products from Africa while economically empowering those who produce them. The Nigerian diaspora is one of the most dynamic and globally dispersed African communities, with an estimated 15 million Nigerians living abroad. This highly educated and economically active population plays a critical role in Nigeria’s development and global cultural influence. Over 500,000 Nigerians live in the U.S., making them one of the most educated immigrant groups in the U.S., particularly concentrated in Texas, New York, Maryland, and Georgia. Nigerians in the diaspora sent home $20.13 billion USD in remittances in 2023, accounting for about 4% of Nigeria’s GDP and making it one of the highest remittance inflows in sub-Saharan Africa.

Ethopia

At Kuleta, we recognize the importance of home, heritage, and connection. By linking Ethiopian women vendors with Ethiopian diaspora communities in the U.S. and beyond, Kuleta enables cross-continental commerce that supports local livelihoods and preserves cultural identity. With strong ties to their homeland, Ethiopians abroad are known for their entrepreneurial spirit and robust economic contributions. The United States is home to the largest Ethiopian diaspora population in the world, with over 300,000 Ethiopians living primarily in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area (often referred to as “Little Ethiopia”), as well as cities like Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and Seattle. Ethiopians abroad sent an estimated $4.2 billion USD in remittances to Ethiopia in 2023, making it one of the largest sources of foreign currency inflows for the country. These remittances are critical to supporting families, businesses, and infrastructure in Ethiopia.
